The ski and snowboard bases are made out of plastic designed to take a lot of impact and abrasion over a wide temperature range. This pours base material absorbs wax easily and may get ground in dirt in the structure but it can be easily cleaned with out harsh chemical cleaner.
Harsh chemical cleaner should not damage your bases but it will strip wax and is not the recommended way to clean your bases.
